Xbox Red Ring of Death

28 May 2008 424 views One Comment

I recently purchased an Xbox 360 Elite from a friend with the understanding the unit was not in working condition. The Unit would come on but would flash three red lights, commonly referred to as ‘The Red Ring of Death‘ or RROD.

Fixing the Xbox 360 Red Ring of Death/Fire

I went to xbox.com and registered the unit under my name and found that it was still under the manufactures warranty. Called the repair center and told them what I was experiencing. They immediately issued me a pre-paid tracking number through UPS to send the unit in for repair. Within one day they resolved the issue and sent the unit back with a free 30 day Xbox live card.

The Xbox customer service was very impressive and I was very satisfied with their performance. It is becoming very hard to find decent customer service that will stand behind their products and then act with the customers’ investment in mind. If you are having these issues where your unit is cutting off and flashing red lights please try contacting them. The process was seamless!

Using the Xbox 360

Lastly, the technology Microsoft integrated in the Xbox 360 is 100% unbelievable. Being a PC fan I have spent most of my gaming hours on PC type games. After experiencing the ‘360′ I must say “I’m Hooked!” There’s honestly nothing like popping in a game and instantly playing that game with a highly graphical background, seamlessly.

XBOX 360 is amazing for a console, however, the ‘red ring’ has been a plague on many machines. Having known 5+ people who have dealt with this problem, I’m amazed that this is such a big deal. They are taking care of the problems, and I’m very happy to hear that, but such a huge problem seems strange.
